Hi,
I'm wondering about the numbers on the cars. where do you guys get those big stickers? or are they magnets.
and also, would I need to use something that big, or could i just get some that would fit in my windows. I'm racing my daily driver, and would prefer to not have the big sticker on my door.
Also, I dont have my regional solo card yet, to my understanding my number is on that card. Would I be able to get a sticker somewhere that mourning that is big enough so i can still race that day.
I'm trying to make it out the next race.
Thanks,
nalbar

Yes, the number on your 'participation card' is the number you put on your car. So it's difficult to buy numbers until you get a card.
We give you the numbers and the class letters for a donation of a dollar. The money is used to replenish the numbers. They are usually at tech. If you are careful you can reuse these paper numbers for several events, but most just use them once and buy more the next event.
Strictly speaking taping numbers to your windows is not allowed, it makes them harder to see. You should tape them to your door panel.
If you want magnetic numbers/class letters you can get them online.
The chances are high that when you purchase your card you will buy it from me. Just ask me about this issue and I will point you in the correct direction.

Got my magnets from Jayson. I'm completely satisfied with them. I'd show a picture, but work blocked photobucket. :(

I wouldn't pass a car at inspection with numbers on the windows, they must be on the doors or rear fenders. The Solo rules specify the size for numbers and class letters. Typeface needs to be the same for both and the color must be contrasting to the background.

If you're strapped for cash, you can get this kit for about $20:

You'll still need class letters, but you can print those out on paper and tape them to the car using blue painter's masking tape, which leaves very little residue.

well for the first race i'll tape the number to the door. Thanks for the advise on not taping to the window. when you see my car, you'll understand why i dont care about taping to the door, ha. dirty dirty car.
I am going to get a magnet for the door. just for the first race i'll have to do with what i can. Thanks for all your help

In 2005 I bought some magnetic numbers (don't remember where) and they kept lifting, weak magnetic material. Then I made the mistake of using a little yellow snot (3m yellow adhesive) thinking it would come off easy, boy was I wrong.
Thanks for the link on the vinyl kits, that will do for the first event. I can look at the magnet stuff at the June 24th event.

I bought the thicker magnetic material from "Ridout Plastics" on Ruffin Road and used MS Publisher to size my numbers out to spec on legal sized paper, and then I traced and cut out my individual magnets.
There are some places that do the job too which, I found a while back on the net:

Some of the local vendors, including myself are listed above.
Don't forget the class letters.
My typical cost is $40 for a full set of #s and letters.

I didn't have time to stop by in the end, but I installed my Mazdaspeed exhaust today. Sounds soooooo good. :D I'm in heaven everytime I down**** now!
But the bad news is I think my headgasket is gone because a little white smoke was coming out above 3500rpm, and more when I really get on it :( . I crawled back up to Temecula tonight successfully though. And the blown headgasket isn't because I became overly enthusiastic after installing the exhaust!
medside, i accept your apology
The :p comadre :p in this thread is killing me. :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p
