Thanks to all the students, instructors, and volunteers who helped with the Novice School. From all feedback I've received, it was a great event.

Nonetheless, I would like to hear any suggestions and comments from the school participants so we can see how we can make the experience better.

My suggestion: lets calendar it a different time of year. The lack of daylight makes the whole day a thrash, and with holiday plans and the ick that goes around this time of year there are a lot of last minute personnel changes.

Feel free to PM or email me (ron@c2motorsport.net) any comments you may have.

Thanks!

I am still flying! Thanks to all!

I attended an excellent 2-day Solo2 event in San Bernardino in '03 - it was an outreach event for new women members. Every student had a member-sponsor who was her personal coach (for better or worse). Over 30 mostly first-time, mostly very green women & their sponsors tore around the longest Autocross course I’ve ever seen (almost twice our typical length). They combined cones with chalk lines (gone during Sunday morning's rain). 4-5 cars were on the long track at a time. There were just 4 work-run groups each day & lunch was provided. 90 minutes chasing cones in the rain became a comedy of errors.:D All student times were recorded both days. The students' driving skills were unrecognizable compared to Saturday morning.

Here’s the kicker: the sponsor’s first 3 runs in their student’s car were recorded – if their sponsoree’s best time from either day was less than 5 seconds slower than their sponsor’s best-of-three, then the sponsor bought the student dinner. If not, the new woman bought dinner. This meant that everyone helped strike the site & then converged on the same restaurant. As a sponsor, I got to drive 18 laps on Sunday – equal seat time with my student (zero on Saturday).

It was a riot & seemed to be a smashing success despite the weather.
Cheers,
Sam
