I have a stock EVO 9 MR. I plan on running on street tires. Does san diego have any type of street tire class where my car fits in? Thanks in advance for any help. :D

The EVO 9 MR is in with all the other EVO's (and STI/i's and M3's) into STU.

Have fun

Stock - directly into stu? Doesn't fit in any stock class or the new (2007) sk1/sk2?

If its stock and you plan on running street tires (140+ treadwear), the San Diego region will be offering a new SK1 class next year. SK1 is a paxed (hadicapped) class of several stock classes, but includes the additional restriction of steet tires. That would be your car's most compeitive spot.

Where can I find the info on the new classes?

I think the plan was to model the SK classes exactly like LA does. In that case you can look up the LA rules in their sup regs:

page 25.

WTH Bruce! You own one and you don't know a stock evo is AS??

The one you borrowed last weekend ran AS in the SCNAX event.

Last I checked the PAX for STU was easier than for AS...

According to the LA rules: STU (.820) is not lower than AS (.831) with Street tires in SK1 (.831 X .98) the resulting index is .81438 if my calculator is right and my fat fingers hit the right buttons.

So San Diego will be offering SK1 next year? I think I will give it a try :)

Thanks everyone!

Just to be clear, currently (i.e. for the last event of this year) the most competitive class choice for a "stock EVO9MR on street tires" is STU.
For next year, I have heard there are going to be 2 StreetTireStock classes and from looking at the Los Angeles Club's rules that we are co-opting, SK1+AS looks like what you will want.

BTW, I am assuming you are new to autox; if so, don't be too quick to either: switch to R-compound tires, start modding your car, or such things. Priority #1 is to learn to drive better and all those things above will tend to mask what is going on with your driving and thus be counter-productive.

And I will repeat it... have fun,
Bruce

Not new to autox per se...i've been doing it on/off for a couple of years. I am new to autox in San Diego though :)

See you guys out there in a couple of weeks!
