Just got the 04 Z rear ended. Can anybody recommend a local shop or dealer for the body work? Looks like relatively minor work so far, but don't know if the rear tub or frame was tweaked or not. Took about a 15/20 MPH hit from a 94 Mustang right into the license plate. Bent the exhaust tips down a little. Still driveable. If you know of a shop you have had good experience with, I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Thanks in advance.

Thankfully I haven't needed any body shop work, although a neon has tapped my license plate.

Here's a thread that might help some.

Don't know if this is "local" to you. Wesloh Chevy did a good job on my 02 Suburban.

We had some work done on my wife's Altima at Pacific Coast Auto Body in Miramar and were very satisfied with the work. (858) 452-7200 is their number if you're interested.

I'm pretty well convinced that the best quality work in town is done at Phil Thearle's Autowerkes. It's a very large, very professional operation in Santee just off the freeway. Absolutely top notch equipment, excellent laborers, and very high standards. Not the cheapest, but they always get the insurance company to pay for what they do. If you take a trip out there you can get Phil or his son to give you a tour. You can tell they like German cars but they will work on the Z (Nissan?).

Thanks for the input. I did find Phil's shop listed near the top (4 of 50 in SoCal) in a (2003)survey of body shop customer satisfaction by the auto club:

the "Z" is a Z06 (Corvette). I should never abbreviate....

Appreciate everyone's help and advice.

My Expedition is currently at Gene Townsend's in El Cajon. From what I can tell, they're fond of the 'vette's over there. Supposed to do a good job, but I won't be able to vouch for them personally until I get my truck back (supposed to be this coming Thursday).

:( Bummer! Phil Thearle's Autowerkes, I’d second this recommendation John! Phil is a perfectionist and deals mostly with high-end stuff. You might also try Carl Burger Dodge and speak to Pete Staffa, the wife’s GOAT took a hit buy a Excursion in the left rear quarter put a 2X2 dent in it. They did an excellent job and have your best interest in mind. Pete came highly recommended by a good friend of mind that only does custom painting. Gene Townsend used to have a separate shop that specialized exclusively in vettes, that was prior to the C5’s I don’t know what his status is now. I remodeled his house in “93” and he was an upstanding businessman and I never had any problem collecting from him, if that any consolation.
Good luck, and Merry Chistmas!
