question about clubs and racing

Hi, Trying to get started with racing.

Do I need to be part of a club to race? and if I am part of a club, can I go racing during other club race days? I would like to be able to participate in as many races.

You do need a helmet, and we usually have loaners.

You do need an SDR number card, which you can purchase at your first event.

If you plan to participate as much as possible, it's advantageous to join SCCA for the discount, which you can also do when you're purchasing your number card.
