We went to this cruise last year and had a great time. Many exotic and historic cars come out for the drive. The roads are almost empty. The cruise starts at Crystal Cove at 9am.

If you are interested, here is the link and information about the cruise:

http://www.bench-racing.com/html/event_calendar.html

"January 1st 2006 The third annual Tour d’Orange. An Orange County canyon tour that will have you back in front of the TV by kickoff time. Approximately a two hour fun tour through some of OC’s best two lane roads. Find out why more than 150 cars have participated in each of the last two events (2004 & 2005). The best way to start the New Year! Everyone else is sleeping in and the roads are empty! Meet at the Crystal Cove parking lot at 9AM Sunday morning for route maps. No sign up, No charge, everyone is invited. Look for “Herbie the Love Bug”".

Sounds like a blast. Not that my car would fit in, but it still sounds like a good time.

Lots of different kinds of cars participated. Some were fancy and some were regular cars.

Which is why I'm going to go anyway. :p

I didn't see any specific directions to "Crystal Cove." I see it's on the coast in the area of Crystal Cove NP, but not a specific (unless of course I missed it which is bound to happen more often than not.) Where exactly is the meeting location?

I think its a state park (small). Right on PCH near Newport Coast highway.

Here's a mapquest link to the Crystal Cove shopping center:

I highly recommend the rediculously over-priced but incredibly delicious pastries at the Pacific Whey Bakery as a great way to start your morning...

Here's an aerial shot of the place on a non-show day:

It's a couple of miles north of Emerald Bay on the PCH.

Here's a couple of rogue Corvettes at the Pacific Whey Cafe:
Scroll through the pics under the Vette pic to see other, (less interesting) stuff.

Thanks for the mapquest. I'm trying to get a few guys in my SoCal group to join in.

Sorry, the above link no longer works. Z06vette.com crashed and burned. No more archives or photos. This is becoming all too common on the internet.

Sounds familiar, huh, Randy?

Yep. The lesson is to save those pics to your desktop! :)
