View Full Version : How does a newbie sign-up?
Hi, I've never autocrossed before but I'd like to participate in the 2006 season. Who should I speak with to join/pay fees? Thanks ahead of time.

W, all you have to do is show up at any champion event early (lets say before 8 in the morning) and buy a 'card'. a 'card' is a card signifying your number for the year. only 25 new cards are sold per event.
that's it! show up and buy a card (i think they are around 30 dollars). its good for the year. think of a card as like a drivers license to auto-x.
then find someone who will walk you through what to do at an event. PLENTY of people will help (i am #75 and will help you)
its easy as heck.

The 25 card limit no longer exists.

Cool. I appreciate the help. Does anyone know what numbers have been taken/reserved?

nope. well, #75 is taken.
because the rules in reserving numbers have been changed this year PLENTY of new numbers will be available, including many two digit numbers.
when you buy your card they will have a list.

About halfway down this page (http://www.dmvrscca.org/dmvlinks.htm), there's a second called "Getting Started in Solo / Autocross." Several links to beginner's guides that are helpful.
We offer instructors to novices. Try to get one to ride with you on your runs. Show up early. Go on the Novice course walk when it's announced.
