I have been trying to make it out to an event to race but car problems and not having my own helmets had been stopping me for almost a year (maybe more) now ...... finally back up and running and ready to race if I can on Sunday the 10th ...... I will be bringing my digital video camera again for some footage but will likely be mostly my car =) ....... so now that I am ready to race what class? and do I need to bring anything besides my helmet, money and car?
I have a 2001 Mustang GT with
forged internals
Steeda Underdrive pullies
comp cams stage 1 cam
ported intake
75mm throttlebody
80mm mass air flow meter
Superchip
2-1/2" Flowmaster cat back (dumped)
mild weight reduction (haven't stripped interior but close)
PA Competition Transmission with 2400 Stall Convertor
B&M transmission cooler
JBA Cat4Ward Shorty Headers
also I have BFG Comp drag radials on a spare set of rims (would they be any good for autocrossing?)

SM at least. The cam, forged internals and aftermarket tranny puts you up in the classes real quick. The 'mild weight reduction' is likely not SM legal, but for your first few races its within the spirit of the class.
I've read from manufactures that drag radials get blistered and don't do well in autoX. I've yet to see a competitior actually try it though.

I know a few people that have run the drag radials on a mustang for autocross but the only used them on the rear and they had kumho autocross tires on the front. The main problem with running the drag radials is they run a really soft side wall where a true autcross tire has a really stiff sidewall to keep the tire from rolling over. They do work well for coming out of the turn its just when your in the center of the turn they say you can really fell the soft sidewall rolling over. If you haven't autocrossed before I would recommend for your first few events running street tires the thing with autocross tires is if you make a mistake a lock up a tire you can flat spot them really quick.

The cam immediately puts you in SM. What type of weight reduction have you done? Removal of the spare tire and some accessories (like the A/C) seem to be allowed in SM. If you gut the interior you'll be stuck in the Prepared class, and that would be STIFF competition for a Mustang. The drag radials won't be much of a friend for turning either. A cheap set of kumho rain tires would probably do better for you.

Legal in all classes, although in Stock there is an AC appendix item that needs to be applied to the specific car.
