Something under $9K. Must be in good shape. Prefer some sort of 3 series. Automatic.
This would be a car for my son who has been working for over a year now saving all his money for this.
Thanks!

What, you didn't teach him how to drive manual in the elise? :D

NOBODY in my family (other than me) has driven the Elise. :)

As it probably should be...
Something like "There's a lot of engine for so little car, you know what you're doing (and that was before you tuned it)"? Or just "my car"?

I let my son (now 18) drive the LT4 once (with me in it) when he was 16. Knowing that about 2 inches of throttle application lay between going in a straight line and doing a NASCAR style big smokey.
The dents in the arm rest from my grip are still there.
Some things you need to build up to.
:)
See ya tomorrow.

My first ever attempt at driving a stick shift car was with my uncle in his 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a 390 cu in motor. Damn but that thing had loads of torque and a touchy clutch.
My second ever experience with a manual transmission was at a BMW exposition of their new sport model 630 CSi with a sales man in a car with ~100 miles on it. Too bad for him, I didn't buy one. (& ya, I'm that old)
Ya gotta learn somewhere :-) and you might as well go for the gusto.
