Thought I would give everyone a heads up.....we have a Driver's School on the schedule now for July 1 (Saturday).
Similar format to the last time-optional ground school Friday evening, elements in the morning, full course in the afternoon. We will have more daylight than at the past couple schools, so everyone should get their fill of runs.
Cost will be $60, lunch included.
Flier will be out in a couple of days.

I would be happy to help out should be available that day. Just let me know.

What level of experience is this catering towards?

It is geared toward beginning to intermediate drivers. Practicing the basics can help just about everyone, I think.

Will the course be broken into "elements" which will be run by smaller groups as it was last school? Then "stitched" together for a finale at the end?
For the Sat. chalk talk, similar basics as last time?

The format of the driving portion will be the same...elements in the morning, full course in the afternoon. The students will get more runs on the complete course than they did last time.
I was planning on the same chalk talk, enhanced with some multimedia I had collected but ran out of time to organize.
As an alternative, we could run a shorter, 1 hour chat on driving, followed by another hour on setup information. Hmm.

Sounds good, I liked the format last time but 3 full runs was a little short for a school. This one instructor with a silver rx8 was hogging all the runs last time. ;)

Yeah, the way he was running you'd think he had a tire store or something.

Just a point of clarification...
You must have a Solo-II card to participate in the driving school. You do not need a card to register for the event, though. You may purchase the Solo-II card either Friday night at the classroom session, or at the Saturday morning check-in.

sweet. That was my exact question. So all we do is send a check plus a completed form to the address and we're good to go?

Works for me: http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/schedule/solo-school.pdf
Edit: I see now that the one on the SDR page under "Upcoming Events" is broken, but the one above works.

How long will the "class" on Friday night be?
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put on a really good autocross school. Being a newbee I don't even know who all of you are (yet) to thank you individually. It's clearly a lot of work to organize and run such an event, and it's great that you all do it for the love of the sport and to help us new guys learn the ropes. Thanks again.
