Any recommendations for good body shops in the El Cajon vicinity? Insurance is covering it, so I'm looking for good work, no orange peel in the paint, no aftermarket parts, etc.
Thanks.

if you aren't paying, Amato's in Sorrento Valley does great work, mostly Porsches, Mercedes, BMW's, etc.
Someone once recommended to me West Coast Autobody 8 549 8226, but they are up off Miramar.
Closer to El Cajon was Lloyds 6 449 7220. I heard they moved to 10821 Airport Dr El Cajon CA 92020 in 2003, but I think they got new owners and maybe went out of business.

If I have to go that far, I'll just go back to All-American Paint & Body off 163 near Balboa. I've used them a couple times and like their work. Plus, they're part of the Direct Repair Program my insurance company has -- if I go to a DRP body shop, 21st just hands them the check and I don't have to deal with the adjuster. There are 3 DRP shops closer to me, but I haven't heard of them before:
* Carter Collision Center on Cuyamaca
* Gene Townsend Auto Painting & Body Shop on Marshall
* Marck Motors Body Shop on Greenfield
Anybody had any experience with these?

I've worked at a few shops around town. I worked for Carter, and I recommend Carter Collision in Santee (Cuyamaca/Mission Gorge), Phil Thearle's also in Santee (Fwy 52/Mission Gorge), and probably Amato's or Caliber Collision in El Cajon. I hear Sid's in La Mesa is pretty good, and all of the dealerships in Mission Valley do repairs (usually regardless of make). If anyone has an older classic or hot-rod, I recommend SoCal Paint and Body in Santee. I used to work with the owner, and have seen several of his finished projects with my own eyes. Good Stuff!

I've used All-American Paint & Body off Buckhorn up in the Kearny Mesa area. Not too far north of you. I'd have used them again this time, but I live in east county now.
And for anyone interested, Gene Townsend did an outstanding job fixing up my Expedition. I don't think I mentioned what actually happened.. I was coming home Friday night after helping Warren setup part of the SCNAX course for the Dec 3 event. A couple hundred yards from my exit off the 8, this pickup truck blazes past me on the left and cuts me off... pulling a trailer, which he seemed to have forgotten, because it contacted the driver's door and scraped forward to the bumper. There was no light on the trailer's license plate, and he used the shoulder to get away in heavy traffic, so it was a hit&run with no way to identify the guy. Anyway, can't tell it's been in an accident at all, now.
The rear bumper on my G35 is not original. All-American fixed that for me back in '03.
Back from the dead...
I'm looking for a place to seal up the sunroof on my 91 Civic. I'm looking for a place that does good work, doesn't charge an arm and a leg(this type of thing is obviously not covered by insurance), and won't laugh me out of the shop for bringing in a 15 year old Civic. :) Something in the Miramar area would be prefered. Also, if any of you have had this type of work done before, please let me know what I might expect to pay.
Thanks,
-nino

Two places have been recommended to me as EXCELLENT places to go.
Phillip Thearl's Autowerks, Santee
(619)449-0111
A bit pricey, but Insurance agencies still work with them.
Magnolia Auto Body, El Cajon
(619)562-7861
Ask for Tom. Referred by Larry Dennstedt
Good Luck!

Resurrecting this body shop thread, as my son needs some repair to his Integra (after someone hit it while parked at the library - what the heck, the kid goes to study for a testm and his car gets whacked!). Any recommendations in North County Inland (near RB)?
