Is Mark's Ferrari a Challenge, or just a standard Modena with a bunch of work done to it?

It's a Challenge model. At least that's how it's listed in the results.

I believe it is a purpose built challenge model and not street legal.

Mark told me it was a Challenge, so unless he was lying, here you have it :)

I got to ride in it once, it's definately a challenge model.
Wheeeee :D
Nearly as fun as riding in Gary's vette during fun runs at my second autocross
I saw the ad from when he bought it, definately a challenge model.

Looks like around $180,000 new, dependant on dealer markup.
Found a bumper cover for $7000. lol That's what my car's worth now. :p
Let's see, bumper cover, or new econo-box......hmmmm...kidding
That Ferrari is damn sexy.

They are much cheaper used as they are not street legal, which means people have a harder time selling them and they have to lower the price.

 Of course "cheaper" and "lower the price" are relative terms.

Actually you can get into the older v6 dino's for mid to upper 20's for an average cond.
Don't expect the performance to be much though. A used late 80's early 90's civic will blow it off I expect.
They are pretty though.

Are they seriously underpowered? I did a search and found some stuff about a 2.0L and 2.4L v6 (the latter having ~190hp or so).

Well it's relative, I looked at a couple of Dino's b4 I got the LT4 Vette. For 25k or so a delicate, beautiful old baby Ferrari making about 200hp, for a lot less a very rugged, much less expensive to repair, good looking Lt4 Vette making probably 345hp.
It's probably a bit lighter but not enough, don't know what class it runs in?
If I could of had both I would, I don't think the Dino would have held up well to autox 2 or 3 times a month, tires were also problematic, wasn't sure if I could get good ones in it's size.
:)
