HI everyone, I recently just started the auto x thing and love it and I am totally addicted. my question was, is there a class that allows only street tires that I can run my s2000 in? I cant really afford r compounds right now. I looked in the rule book and couldnt seem to find anything. thanks

No, there are only R-compound classes for the s2000 in San Diego.

Don't let that stop you. Probably more than half the people in classes that allow R-comps are not running them.

If you're really fresh, and your only mod is tires (I think that's what you're saying), sound's like you'd be perfect in stock class for a while. Until you figure out that you need a little more, and a little more, and a little more, and then figure out that you didn't get the right things in the first place and.......oh wait, that's me.:p

Don't run race tires if you're just starting out. They're so sticky they cover up a lot of mistakes and switching too soon can slow you down in the long run. Stick with your streets for a season first.

Anrdew Lin has been running his S2000 on street tires for a long time. You will not be alone. :)

Absolutely stay on street tyres for a while, as was said they can maks many issues with your driving style that could be seen and corrected if you stay on the hankooks (which aren't bad at all as far as street tyres go!). Just rememeber though, you probably won't be staying in stock class very long if you start changing suspension parts. I would hold off on most mods until you have some driving time under your belt. Eventually you will start seeing what parts of the car need upgrading and be able to split that from what part of your ability needs work.

Don't buy any mods yet. Wait and see what you need and how other people in the same car/class have done things. Saves a lot of time and $$. :D

I ran my first (half) season on (crappy) street tires, second (full) season on last gen r comp tires (Victoracers), and this is first season on r's all year.

I think when your cars is not sticking that well you do learn how to use throttle & brakes & steering better.

Focus on the driving.

This for A Stock.
