SCNAX is a thriving club that was started in Los Angeles and has since branched off to other regions. Our members drive all kinds of cars and enjoy hanging out and putting on quality events. No rules about making meetings and mandatory social events. No club dues. We all vote on club matters and everyone has an equal voice.

Again... no annual dues. No mandatory fees. No mandatory meetings. No mandatory social things. No event working quotas. Give what you can to the club in terms of energy and time.

Benefits are knowing you are part of the fastest growing solo club in San Diego. We have gone from being brand new 2 years ago, to over 70 members at present. I would not be surprised to see us at over 100 members in 2006.

SCNAX puts on more unique events. We will be having a SCNAX Cup event (teams of 4 drivers/cars compete in a two day event). We will have another SCNAX ProSolo event (mirror image drag start courses). We think we are on the leading edge of trying new things. Sometimes successfully too. :)

We typically offer reduced entry fees for those who are signed up to help run our events.

SCNAX plans on at least one club only practice to reward our members.

All the money received by the club is used solely by the club and for its members. Members have a say in what we do. Out intent is not to amass a large bank account. We are run as a not-for-profit entity and seek to distribute the money to the club members as a reward. No individual members of the club receive money or benefits beyond other members.

Club philosophy. We are about having a good time and fun competition. We seek to put on excellent events and strive to be better at it each time. We continually learn.

We understand and recognize that everyone comes from different backgrounds and circumstances and that they may have other things going on in their life, or live farther away...things that may limit their time. We feel we have enough quality volunteers willing to help out, that those that can't put in as much time should not be required to. If you can put in a full day at an event, great. If you can only help out in the morning or tear down.. that is appreciated. That is better than not helping at all.

We occassionally have meetings. They are never mandatory. But we try to offer a bribe in terms of pizza and beer. :) Otherwise, everything is done online. We take club votes online here. We are all about technology and efficiency but recognize that "face time" is a good thing when we can make it happen.

The boiled down club info:

1. No dues. You don't pay to be a member.
2. No mandatory meeting attendance.
3. No mandatory solo event or social event attendance.
4. An equal vote in all club matters. All region matters are brought to the club for a vote.
5. Club members control the club money. Funds are used for the club membership's benefit. No one individual gets the money.
6. No mandatory uniforms (shirts or hats), but we do have free ones from time to time.
7. SCNAX is innovative. We do the SCNAX Cup. We do the ProSolo practice.

When I was in Junior High, I used to take Sue Ellen to my private area. What do you guys do in yours?

A solo2 card is not an SCCA membership. A solo card costs between $10 and $30 depending, where a SCCA is $70 normally.

Being a new member of SCNAX (atleast, they told me I'm a member), it seems pretty simple to join. No hazing even. :D You'll need to PM nalbar (he posted a bit farther up on this thread).

i have a solo2 card but do i need anything else? is the solo2 card the same as being an scca member? the solo2 card is a Local (San Diego) run card that you need to run in the San Diego region (make sure you get one for 2006). The SCCA card is the parent national body, based in Topeka. You need to be an SCCA member to do a few of the jobs, to do "national" events (like the up coming National Tour) and it gets you a discount into the regional championships.

If you don't plan on racing outside of San Diego this year (say LA region or Phoenix, or Vegas), then as a rookie, I'd say the only SCCA benifit is the discount. Do the math to see if its worth it to you.

I haven't seen it say SCNAX next to my name nor given access to some legendary "private area" yet despite selecting SCNAX in my profile under User CP. Am I missing something?

I'm not seeing the SCNAX private area... :D

Maybe 'cuz I just realized now that the forum got reinitialized and I needed to re-register. Shows you how closely I've been paying attention of late.

On a not-so-related note, is there a way into the www.scnax.com forums that doesn't require freakin' flash? The homepage sure isn't any help to me... (I'm a luddite -- I refuse to install Flash player because I hate flash ads. And now I hear Warren in the background going, "You call that being a luddite? Pfft, amateur." ;) )

Hi everyone! I've been with SCNAX L.A. for around 5 months and have heard of SCNAX S.D. My fiancee and I frequent the S.D. area to visit friends often. They happen to live minutes from Qualcomm :) I've met a few of you at the Cal Speedway so I hope to meet more of you during the upcoming events!
