WAITING LIST

um, so I turned in my entry at the same time as Rachel Monaco (who's listed). I know because I hand-delivered our entries to Santee to avoid being bumped again! :) They were paid with one check ($80) in the same envelope. I preferred to be in group B as well and even arrived before the mail! (I think it was Monday or Tuesday) I'd really appreciate if you could help figure this out, as I will sob uncontrollably otherwise. Thanks!

Hank, you forgot to tell them you are not on the list at all. Not everyone knows your tag by sight.
Maybe call the number on the flyer.

Hank

Our apologies for the mistake. It has now been corrected by bumping the gracious, Mr Coe, from B to A. You are now in B with R Monaco. I just hope you are not sharing a car because that $80 would have only cost $50 and SCAT would have $30 to buy pizza for ourselves.
Mr Coe advised me that sobbing uncontrollably will not be allowed. But, groveling at his feet is welcome.

Thanks a bunch! Appreciate it. And it would be nice if I started putting some faces to name myself!

PS and no codriving. Rae's still rockin' the Prius! Trying to convince her to drive my car so we can save money on sharing a set of tires :)

Yeah I was mostly joking; she already bought a new set of wheels! But if she does decide to run my Si that's cool, but not really seeing a big reason to push her into it, especially considering I have the same amount of fun driving her car as mine....just stinks that no matter how good you drive it, you're still way back in the HS pack :(

Any open spots left?

-John

It looks like there are open spots. FYI, it's almost always best to send the form right away then ask if there are any open spots remaining. With this method, you can cancel your entry with enough advanced notice if something comes up. If you ask and wait for a response, the response might be late or you might drag your feet and end up missing the last mail drop and not make it in because others just sent the form first. :p :p :p

Hello im jonathan. Sorry if this is a dumb question but since I'm on the waiting list since I sent in my pre registration without any $$$ ( I put I'm paying at the event on the registration form) am I still in? Or should I print out another form and then send in the money now? Sorry for the noob questions but hey this is my first autox and registering for it is a bit different than how I registered for my rallyx that I did a few months ago.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you guys out there!

nalbar
05-29-2011, 08:45 PM
If you put 'I will pay at the event' that explains why you are on the wait list for an event that still has openings. It's hard to justify saving a place for someone (the only one) who has not paid, when everyone else sends their money in.

Send the money in and I bet you move from wait list to in the event.

If the Rallyx was at Glen Helen, I was also there. I was the guy that gave out the SCCA day passes. Those passes will cost 15 at this event.

nalbar

ouchx100
05-30-2011, 12:34 PM
Ok thank you. I will send another form with the money. If the day pass costs 15 and the event is 40 then it will be $55 total that I will send out first thing tomorrow morning. For the rallyx I think most people were paying at the event.

Yea I was at Glen Helen and loved it so much I couldn't wait to do another event either tarmac for dirt \:rock2: I guess its time I look into a scca membership:D

JeffBloch
05-30-2011, 01:43 PM
Just send $40. The SCCA weekend pass should be handled separately with Warren when you get there. The money goes to different accounts, so it may be difficult to separate them if you tried to pay with one check.

nalbar
05-30-2011, 02:08 PM
Jeff is right, ouch. Just pay the 40.

You will also owe another 5 for your number. I won't lecture you now about not joining the SCCA with the day pass purchased at Glen Helen. I will do that at the practice.

;)

You should be fine in getting into the event list as long as you send it out now. There are well over 20 positions available right now. If you need any assistance, just grab the closest SCAT blue shirt person to point you in the correct direction.

I'm a Newbie, as you will no doubt note. I've been posting under General Discussion and getting info regarding the June 12th Championship event. Really, we were planning on coming down, we live in Apple Valley, just to see how things work and to bring our "new" 1995 Miata. But those that responded to us pretty well have talked us into entering when we get there in the Novice class.

However, now I see that I actually need to send in an entry if I want to "Practice" on Saturday. No signing up when I get there. And on top of it, it would appear that the "Practice' is nearly sold out.

It seems weird that for Sunday, you can just show up, but for Saturday you might not get in at all, particularly if you don't pre-enter/pre-pay. But then, I did say that I'm a Newbie. So how does one get their entry in? Is there a form somewhere?

Thanks.

Ed

Follow this link to the schedule page: http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/schedule/
Print out the flyer for the June 11th Practice, fill it in and mail it ASAP with a check for $40/person to reserve your spot for the practice.

The Sunday championship event is an open competition, everyone will get only 3 (sometimes 4) runs for the day. There is no limit to how many people can enter, thus there is no need to pre-register.

The Saturday practice is a luxury in our region. To allow people to get more runs during a day to help practice or test out car setups, the number of entrants is limited to 100 drivers. Limiting the number of participants lets everyone get 8-12 runs in during the day rather than 3 or 4. Because entry is limited, these entry positions are reserved by sending in the entry fee and form. First come first served, so mail it in today.

Hope to see you there, you'll have a great time. Welcome to the sport :)

Go to www.sdr-scca.com/solo2
Click on "SCHEDULE" on the left column. ( http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/schedule/ )
Click on the Link next to Saturday, June 11th (http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/schedule/2011/flyer-2011-06-11.pdf )
Print and snail mail it in. Or you could do what someone else has done and hand deliver it.
Any questions email who ever is handling the entries. In this case its Scott.

In the past I have seen the practice events fill up quickly, I'm surprised to see so many spots still available.

Hope this helped.

Chris is right about spots filling up pretty quick. Although, he forgot to mention that some people start to cancel a few days before practice; making spots available. I'm one of those guys who turned in their pre-registration probably 5 days before the practice event. I was on the wait list, then someone from B cancelled just about 2 days before the practice event and I asked for that spot. BAM! Got the spot

My point is, even if you're on the wait list, you'll probably get a spot when the event gets closer.

kartdriver
06-03-2011, 05:33 AM
Good point John.
At this time, there is noboby on the wait list as you can see. With group B and C being full, you may get your second or third choice. If anyone is worried about getting into the practice, best bet is to send in an entry now. I have seen a waiting list of over 15 people called to run because of "no shows". Do not count on it, but it can happen.
Please remember to cancel by the Thursday before the practice if you can not make it. Dont risk losing your entry fee.

Hello all, first timer here.

My tires just barely hit the wear bar. Is it okay to use these at the event?

I have a very low powered car('07 Fit :D), so I feel that safety won't be an issue. I just don't want to fail the inspection at the day of the event.

I'd appreciate a response.

Thank you!

Thank you!

You won't fail tech inspection unless there are exposed cords on the tire. If you're just at the wear bars, then you still have 2/32" of tread rubber left which is plenty to get you through a practice day. (assuming you're not repeatedly drifting or locking up the brakes etc.)

When your done for the day though, take time to inspect all the tires all the way around to see if the day's activity has exposed any cords.

Welcome to the sport. I'll see you out there next weekend, you'll have a blast.

I won't be attending the Practice on June 11th due, mainly, to the fact that I'm late to the party and, at this point it is essentially sold out. To prevent this from happening the next time, can someone direct me to where and how I would have registered...and paid. I can't seem to find anything anywhere. I see comments among forum members to "just send it in". But I'm not seeing the "where" and "how".

Thanks.

Hey GT!

Look at the very bottom of this page. You will see a row of buttons. Click on the on that says 'SCCA SDR SOLO'. It will take you here: http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/

On the left of that page is a list. Click the one that says 'schedule', then click on the appropriate date to DL that flyer. Also, in this site is a forum titled 'Events'. Go here: http://www.sdsolo.com/forum/forum.php and sroll down the list to 'Events'. As each flyer is posted MContour post a notification that the flyer is up and can be downloaded (look down the list and you will see this practice listed), a link is included in the post.

You might want to also sign up for email notification of flyers, also on this site, here; http://www.sdr-scca.com/mail/?p=subscribe

Then you will get an email, with a link, with flyers go up.

BTW, you can still get in this event. Easily.

That is the 'where', this is the 'how'.

PRACTICE;
Once you see the flyer, print it out. Fill in the required info and mail it, with check for the appropriate amount, to the listed address. we do not allow electronic entry to practices. The only way to ensure a spot is by mailing a form, with money, to the address on the form. Like Scott said, we have all seen large wait list where everyone gets in. In fact, it happens all the time. But the only way to be SURE, is to mail the form.

CHAMP;
the Champ forms are for information only (they tell people who run in a class what time they run). There is NO preentry to Champs, they are walk up only. Everyone gets in (that have purchased the memberships). You walk up, fill out the entry form, and you get in.

I'm tempted, but I'm out of the area. Guess there's no way to take a debit card by phone and fax an entry. You folks need to join the 21st century. Snail mail??? Really??? I'm just kidding...sort of. No offense intended. I guess there's probably a fairness purpose to the snail mail but theres' got to be a better and just as fair way. I'm a business man, so I'm always looking to do what it takes to turn a prospect into a customer.

At least I'll be there Sunday. Not sure why, being a newbie and getting no chance to practice prior to only 3 runs.

Malaqui

The practice course is not the same as the championship course. In most cases its reversed, and some elements get changed.

So the only thing practice gets you is seat time. And you get 4 runs on championship events not 3.

HY.
06-08-2011, 05:32 PM
In San Diego it seems to be 4, but do we ever modify that?

Anyway, the nice thing about the snail mail is that with checks, they can easily tear them up if you don't show up, so it's simple for them. And hey, they don't call it a grassroots sport for nothing, right? hahaha

As for "fairness", I don't necessarily think it's more fair that someone who lives closer get their choice before you do *shrugs* It's an older crowd though not to mentoin this way keeps costs down (paypal costs money), so I'll just pay and shut up and smile, happy I get to participate!

nalbar
06-08-2011, 07:48 PM
Typical amount of runs at a Champ event, including in San Diego, is 3 runs. But for various reasons, participation has been low, so San Diego gives 4 runs. Whether 3 or 4 runs is a decision that is made by the Event Chair before the first run group is done. It's always announced (usual with a crowd cheer), and no announcement would normally mean 3 runs.

In San Diego we have only had one event with three runs in the last couple years (SCNAX, early 2009). The normal participation cut off would be 190-200. We can tempt fate because, generally speaking, we don't have as many delays as other regions.

But I would not get used to four runs. Participation is climbing again, and four is likely to become rare.

You run LA, you're going to get three. In the last few years they have had only 1-2 4 run events.

Reminders

Groups A and B will check in first followed by C and D.

Registration check-in cutoff for Group A & B is 8:40 A.M.
Registration check-in cutoff for Group C & D is 11:30 A.M.
After these times we will take stand-by drivers to fill any openings.

If you are preregistered and you do not presently have a number for your vehicle, please go directly to the membership table (to the side of registration) for your temporary SCCA membership and vehicle number. Once you have a number, proceed to registration.

Are we doing what was done at the Novice School where people are allowed to print out registration cards in advance? I know filing might become harder if they're not uniform, but if we ever did it this way, I could type up a nice pretty one and print it out with date changes every month!

Anyway, thanks Scott!

Just take a few blank ones home with you to fill out in advance. As much as these cards are handled, I dont think plain paper would hold up too well.
But, if you can format the printer program to fill it out using the current cards, go for it! I has been done before years ago at registration. Didn't last long.

There are 5 spots left and I believe 3 that came in the mail. I will update this list this afternoon. It appears, right now, that all who have sent entries before Wednesday (yesterday), will get in.
The mail is delivered at 3pm.

Yes you can take passengers on Saturday. Make sure the passenger signs the passenger waiver at the membership table.
