I noticed someone out there taking a bunch of pictures, anyone know who it was and if they'll be posting them anywhere?

I spotted for the photographer during the 1st run group and he was there to take pictures of the Mini that had a Honda V-Tech mounted in the rear.

I don't remember the name of either of them but the Mini guy has a web site.

The photographers took some really cool photos with a 300mm lense that could zoom in just about anywhere on the track.

Wish I could be more help. I too would like to find the guy because he showed me some cool pictures that he took of my car.

PS He's a professional photographer (10 Mega Pixel) and probably wants to be paid for his photos but you could easily blow them up to poster size.

Don't let megapixels fool you. It doesn't equate to quality or professional shots in anyway. not saying this guy isn't a pro or skilled (have yet to see the shots) just saying don't be fooled. A 4mp professional DSLR with good glass will produce better shots than an 8mp prosumer point and shoot.

Mega pixiels only really come into play when u start editing and enlargering.

but he right, a pro with a low meg camera is better than some nooby with the clearest camera

The quality of the lens is the most critical issue. No different than with film really. Canon or Leica glass and 35mm is better than 90-year-old uncoated lens on 6x7cm. :D

Here's the photographer's site with the pictures from the event. Note there are 34 pages of pictures:

Hi,

As Kurt said, the pictures are up in the gallery.

Let me explain a little about who I am, and why I was there !

I am a photographer, I make a living taking photographs of people, portraits, weddings etc, but have a strong interest in motorsport, having spent a lot of time in race seats, and working for race teams as 'computer guy'.

I was there primarily to support Kurt (KB58) and his endeavors with the 'little silver mini' kimini.

In recent months I have been asked more and more if my photos taken at car events are available for purchase, and after thinking about it, I am offering them on the site that Kurt linked you to.

So, there you have it, that is who I am.

On the day I was using high quality glass, with a decent camera, the images will enlarge to poster sizes with no grain.....

I expect I will be at the next practise/event, stop by and say hello !

In case you didn't know, you can get on the course to take photos so long as you have a dedicated spotter with you and permission from the Chair and or safety. Just don't stand anywhere stupid, guys like me who's car's velocity can well exceed their talent.

I may be available to take some photographs at future events as well, but I do not want to move in on MaxN in any way. I actually visited this site trying to get more information on the racing events, not to take photos.

I plan to be there on the 22nd just to watch and get a better feel for how the event is coordinated. With permission from MaxN, I'd like to bring my camera out as well. If anyone would like to discuss this with me further, feel free to contact me.

STiSavage asked if anyone knew who was taking pictures on April 1st, 2006. I have his name: It's Max Nealon and you can reach him at http://www.t3v3r.net/gallery/

JKerr: No offense to MaxN, but you don't need his permission. We have another local guy, Paul, who's been taking pictures at our events for much longer. You don't need his permission either. You can come to our events and take all the pictures you want from behind the flag line in the paddock or outside the fence. If you want to venture out on course to take pictures, you need a spotter and the permission of the safety steward and/or event chair. The April 22/23 events are run by SCNAX, so anyone in SCNAX shirt can point you to those people that day.

Come on out and have some fun!

Yep no permission required as long as you stay off course in areas spectators are permitted at. If you want to venture on course as stated by others, talk with event chair and safety steward, find a spotter and head out.

No restriction (other than the safety ones) on who takes pics at our events.

Thank you for the response. I figured I'd be polite and ask first. Besides, I'm new here and I don't want to step on anyones toe's (yet). I won't be able to stay very long on the 22nd, but I hope to get more involved in the future. I'll see you all out there.
