View Full Version : Saturday May 8th, aka The ditch in the Southeast lot

Many years ago, I took my MR2 on a southeast lot course (TART event). I was airborne. When the car landed, I sheared the motor mounts and an exhaust mount.

Today, I hit the ditch sideways and got air. When I came down, I turned my transmission into a bucket of rocks.

Nothing against the lot today, I should have driven the course differently.

Just venting and looking for sympathy. :)

Good practice day otherwise. Course was fun.

i wondered what happened....that's a bummer :\

good practice otherwise indeed. running 14x is way more fun than 4.

That was the best course I've driven on that lot. The hairpin was hairy, and a good challenge. I wish I had been able to stay, but we were running so fast, I burned through my shifter cable in staging, lol

I'm going to hijack Randy's 'sympathy' thread to publicly thank those that helped.

First is Randy for hauling the trailer. It's not as easy as it appears.

And Katy for coming down and helping at registration (OK Warren, I got it! Heh.) and hanging all day helping with odds and ends, and packing.

Michael H. for helping all day instructing and misc. stuff, and packing.

Carl for his course. It's not easy being course designer when I am Event Chair.

Ian for his broom (MAHAHAHA!!!)

Jeff L. for doing what he does (how many free entries do we owe this guy?).

David D., our Safety Steward, who does not delegate enough, and SCNAX was finally able to take advantage of it like the other clubs do.

Stanley K., who helps all he can at all events.

And all the participants for being such troopers on a low worker day. Not one complaint from our workers! (at least not to my face).

Thanks everyone! Working with everyone makes the events worth doing!

OH! OH! And what about crazy Craig L. buying TWO entries and taking 29 runs (we gave him an extra as a bonus)! What a kook. A kook with worn tires.

sympathy to Randy on the car damage.

I second the feeling about it being a great course on the Southeast lot.

Thanks to everyone who put on the event and being so friendly and relaxed.

More sympathy to Randy. I was working the course right there.

Thanks to everyone for the best course on that lot and for being so helpful. Best day I have had at AX so far.

Big thaks to all the pros that dropped in my car to show me stuff: Howard, Bruce, Mike H and Dov.

And Warren for showing me that the experienced driver can do hand signals and hairpins at the same time.

Great course. I got to practice what I needed to practice.

Great club.

We also owe Derek some money.

San Diego participants are absolutely the best a Region can get.

hahaha yep...that turn did quite the number on me at first. slower was waaaaay better for crap tires.
