I need to replace my clutch in my 90 miata.
any suggestions on brand, ft/lbs required, any other helpful info?
I running all of 8lbs of boost the engine is ported, polished, balanced, and has a lightened flywheel (1.6 size not the 1.8), and a limited slip added.
I don't know the current HP, but its way better then stock :rock2:
If ya need more info, let me know.
I'll most likely take it apart tomorrow, If can can buy something locally so I can install it on Tuesday, that would be great.
I don't want to cancel out of this coming weekends practice day

I know Bill Schenker is running the OS Giken clutch set up.
Is your clutch slipping on course? No need to rush into buying one if not.

I used an ACT HD in the Elise and just got another one for the MR2 from KO Racing

Randy, maybe Leo can install your clutch. Just kidding. :p :p :p I can't wait to see you're 'new to you' car in action. I'd also like to check out and ask a few questions about your wheels.

The clutch is not slipping, but its been getting more and more difficult to engage.
With the engine NOT running I can shift in to all the gears
It started out, only being hard to put in to gear, once the car got hot.
Now it's progressed to, once I start the car I can’t put it in reverse or 1st.
If I turn off the engine, I can put into gear, push the clutch and restart the car.
Once I'm moving all the gears are fine, not counting reverse (never tried moving and putting in reverse, which would be silly)
I've already replaced the Clutch master and slave cylinder, and drained the fluid and replaced with a higher temperature rated fluid (thought maybe the turbo was getting it to hot and mucked up the fluid)
I'm thinking it could be the pilot and/or release bearing...
Any Ideals????
anyone? anyone?

I'm the farthest thing from an expert on this, but it doesn't sound like a clutch problem, especially if you already replaced the master and slave. I know it's not what you want to hear, but to me it sounds like your synchros on 1st and reverse are worn. (Although I'm not sure if there even is a synchro on Rev)
For things like this you should post on the miata.net forum for more advice.

No synchro in reverse, and it shouldn't come into play when the car is stopped. Typically 2nd gear syncro is first to go (3rd to 2nd shifts on street right turns take their toll), and can be band-aided by double clutching.
Master/slave cylinder was a good guess. How about air in the hydraulic line? Some sort of cable or pedal adjustment? We just had a similar thing go wrong in the MX5 and it was just the pedal adjustment came unlocked.

as far as I can tell no air in the line, I've bleed them many many times, same result
(or I'm just doing it wrong every time hummm... naaa)
pedal adjustment huh? I'll look into that tomorrow morning.
I hope thats it.
I do have to press the pedal ALL the way down and it only grabs at the end...hummm
could be on to something

Well that was it! the push rod need adjusting.
Its was odd that it originally started not working after the engine was hot.
anyway, I road tested it and it seems to be working well
ThanX :rock2:
