Still looking for a waiver chief and chief of course.
Waiver Chief - oversee workers at gate. Need to make sure the gate is covered while the event is going on. Workers are preassigned so you need to make sure they are actually there and working. Will explain waiver process to workers so it is done correctly. Will have radio to be in contact with gate and event officials. Need to be available on Friday.
Chief of course - oversee worker check in for each heat. A course worker is assigned to check in workers but must be available to speed up the process and direct people to there work positions. Also must be ready if anything happens on course - car breakdown, course breakup or spilled fluids. We have a truck available (thanks Larry). Scott, Steve or myself will be available to help and cover you when you run. Pretty demanding position - easier on the second day since people allready know their work positions.

Mark,
My wife Jan and I can handle the Gate Chief(s) duties. We have been Gate Chief(s) at numerous events and know the procedures and forms. We will commit to the three days if necessary (we are not driving in the tour) but it would be nice if someone could step up and cover one of the days.

There is always a course walk between heats 2 and 3 at the tour. There are 5 heats at a tour. Heats are like run groups. There is no lunch break just a 30 min. course walk between heats 2 and 3. There is a lot more course walking at tours, pros and nationals.
The lights are turned on till 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday for this reason.

People will start rolling in more on Friday.
Thursday we will be there all afternoon setting up, not sure who would be staying onsite Thursday night - but you can.
There will be lots of people staying Friday and Saturday nights.

I need someone on Saturday from 6:30 am - 9:00 am to work with Brian on the gate. This is your work assignment.
If you are looking to volunteer, then we can use help Friday around noon chalking the course and marking cones, or Friday around 4:00 pm helping set up grid.

Kumho now has a contingency program for tours/pro solo
go to SCCA website for full details
You must register before the event - not during or after
You need stickers - not sure if they will be at tech
Awards are for Kumho products - not cash
Amounts are doubled for Street Tire classes (yes even SK1/SK2)

We are getting close to the big weekend.
General site setup as well as the 2 courses begin Thursday at noon.
Feel free to come down and help out.
I will be there till late on Thursday so come on dowm.
Friday we could use volunteers helping on the gate and with course numbering and lining starting mid morning.
Grid set up is Friday afternoon and extra help is always useful.
The welcome party is from 5 - 7 and help would be great making sure things go smoothly.
Trash is another area that always can use an extra hand. We have several large dumpsters that the smaller trash cans need to be emptied into every day.
The test n tune course needs to be picked up and the trailer moved at the end of the day Friday.
Course change over (as well as grid) needs to be done Saturday after the last car finishes and before people can walk course.
And finally we need to pick everything up at the end of the day on Sunday.
This is a San Diego region event so please help out!

How late is the site open? we will be arriving late thursday night. I don't want to pull up to the qualcomm gate and not be able to drive in.
Thanks

The site is always open since there is a trolley stop there as well as a fire station. There is a security gate that is mostly manned at the front entrance and there is a security office. You should be able to get in on a late arrival. They may ask some questions if it's to late but they are aware of the tour going on.

No SK class in the schedule? Or do we still run with AM?
73STS
04-07-2010, 04:47 PM
IDX1 = SK1
IDX2 = SK2
You just put your SK class letters on like a local event with the car number you picked for the tour.

I missed it this year but i was there in last year and it was too much fun.
last year's Nat Tour and PRO, there were 3 Microsoft Execs ,who had their own semi truck with 2 Porsche AWD.Twin Turbos, and a Ferrari 360 Modena! And at the PRO Solo.there was a chance to even win some money also ...
