Cool!!! I may have to run a few races with my old SDKA friends. Its only been 5 years since I ran with them. This way I wont burn my clutch up again running autocross on a KT100 motor.

I've never seen karts run in an open parking lot. What will be used to define the course? Cones? Hay bales?

Could get ugly quick.

Good question, how they gonna do that? Who has a link to a kart race in a parking lot?

I want some wmv, now!

Karting groups use a common plastic barrier system, like giant Duplos or Legos.

They can also use haybales, but that is less forgiving. I did one event with haybales and eventually touched one at speed.

Haybales hurt like crap. However I think they will be using plastic barriers. For Miramar Speed Circuit, we mostly use plastic barriers and a few haybales behind key impact points for reinforcement for our off site events. Will these events be for shifter karts? If they are it will be ugly. Going into barriers at 30mph isn't exactly fun for the body so in a shifter kart, it would only hurt more.

We had our meeting at the stadium. The San Diego Karting Association is mostly using the SouthEast lot of Qualcomm and only requested one West Lot date. They are trying to have around one event per month, most of which are not taking away from any dates of the other car clubs. They do use cones to define the course, with some lightweight plastic barrier blocks put up at strategic points.

It should be fun to see them run.

P.S. SCCA asked for and got 18 days (11 weekends) of events from January through July.

Where do we find out what these dates are so I can put them in my calendar?

Do we have an updated "draw" schedule from the conference call? Or was it put off until the January meeting?
