Hello All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on the best tire for STU class for my Speed '3. I'm down to three options:

1) New Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's - Expensive, untried, but the RE-01s were the bee's knees at one point.

2) Dunlop Z1 Star Spec- Suposedly the most consistent, basically the same price as #3

3) Falken Azien 615s- Supposedly very sticky, but very effected by heat, and can fall off quickly when over run.

The next major event will be ProSolo in El Toro, so there will be minimum 12 runs in 2 days on these tires.

Thanks,
Collin Webster

Toyo R1R

They don't last all that long though.

True,

But the R1R has characteristics of Toyo's R compound tires. They get faster right up until they cord.

The top 7 STU places (and 14 of 17 total) at the tour used Dunlaps.
That said, one other tire to consider would be the Yokohama Advan Neovas, although they run a bit more $.

It would have been 15 of 17 if I hadn't taken a nail through my sidewall in the Q parking lot. The Bridgestone truck was on site, so Bridgestones it was! Now to order my replacement Star Spec from Tire Rack.

Well, I did follow your addvice and ended up with 225/45/R18 Dunlop's on the stock 7" rim for my speed 3. I drove them at the El Toro pro solo and loved them, they take a LOT of abuse before they squeal and seemed very consistent over the different teps we saw at El Toro.

Next time I may try to have them squeeze 235s on this rim, or break down and buy aftermarket rims (anyone have a set of cheap rims they're looking to sell that are 5x114, 18" diameter, 8 - 8.5" wide?, 48 offset (Need to double check the offset...)

Cheers,
