I'm looking for somebody locally that does ECU soldering in San Diego. I have a few ECUs that need chipping and I'd rather find someone local versus mailing away for service.

Do you know what the existing ic packaging is on the pcb?

Michael, what are the benefits of chipping a NA Miata? On my 'teg it's about 6-7 HP, which I don't consider worth the bother, considering I would also have to have it tuned. Do Miata's see a bigger gain than that, or are you looking for every gain, no matter how much?

I would imagine if the chips tune for 91+ octane than a decent amount of power can be had, especially if they account for small mods like intakes and whatnot.

Randy, it is a 28 pin eprom that needs to be removed and a 28 pin zif socket installed.

I've gained about 10 hp, most of it above 6K rpm. Quite a bit of torque also, but below 3K rpm. I'll take every bit I can get.

dyno charts are on the miata forum:

AAA Electronics off of Mercury St chipped the ECU on my 240sx.

I think I paid $60 it was done in an hour.

Best,
Dan

Mike, this doesn't help you with the ECU soldering but it may be a useful related link for you. I've used their hardware and software without any trouble: http://www.moates.net/

I believe I sourced my blank chips elsewhere though, having found a better price.

Thanks Mike

Moates is who I currently use and their $25 service, plus shipping, is a great deal. http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=42

Due to convenience, I got eeproms from Moates for $5 ea. Previously, I got a bunch off ebay for super cheap.

Where are you sourcing yours?
