I need to get my 30K service done, basically a tranny flush, maybe a coolant flush (is that really needed these on newer cars?), and probably throw in an oil change. I plan on providing my own fluids to use, I know some places don't like that.

I just did mine at the dealership (Bob Baker Subaru in Carlsbad), but for anything else I go to Brad's Foreign & Domestic in Encinitas. Their number is (760) 753-6217.

Whenver I'm too lazy/busy to do something myself I bring it to Infinite Motion in San Marcos; they specialize in japanese makes and are even authorized to do warrenty work on Hondas. All my Mom's cars have gone there since new. (760)744-7070 Tell them Nik sent you.

You might try checking out

for the 2005 Auto Club AAR Quality Service Award Winners in Southern California.
The San Diego area winners were:
Facility Name..................................City........ Award Years
------------------------------------- -------------- --------------
Hontech Automotive........................San Diego.........3
Robert's Auto Service......................San Diego.........1
Seaside Buick.................................San Diego........5
Perfect Timing Auto Service & Repair.....Vista............2

Personally I have only used Hontech and that was almost 20 years ago, so take that with a grain of salt, but they seemed fine at that time.

Good Luck,
Bruce

I have found Tony Beck to be very plyable in his shop, your oil, his oil, the labor is the same. I am sure he doesn't mind who's fluid he uses as long as it is understood it is the customers choice and responsibility. he often points out parts and pieces that require attention and offers me the opertunity to do it myself or he can do it. The choice is always mine.
Becks automotive is located in La Mesa near Drew Ford and does minor/major repairs on most cars. He does NOT do transmissions or carburators but just about everything else is fair game (no body work either) call first to set up an appointment. Good work at a fair price.
