View Full Version : Question on event and points card cost

I ran my first and only San Diego event so far back on November 13th last year. I had a good time and I am thinking of running this Sunday but I don't remember how much it cost me last time. Here are my questions:
1. I see on the flyer it is $35 for non-SCCA folks. Do the points card holders also pay $35? Or do they also get a discount?
2. What does the annual points card cost?
I am trying to figure out my total cost for Sunday and my recurring cost for future events after acquiring a points card. I am already a CalClub card holder and need to get approval from my CFO for additional autox expenditures. ;)
Thanks,
David

First off, San Diego region autox doesn't use a points card. They use a number card. You need to join a local club (SCNAX, TART, SCAT, DCCSD) to earn points for the season.
1. You are required to have a Number Card to be able to run. There is a discount for SCCA members, but not Number Card holders.
2. I think they are going for $30 for non-SCCA members ($20 for SCCA members).
Guys, did I miss anything?
Edit:
Should we add a Novice FAQ?

San Diego does not have the same kind of card that Cal Club does. They have a points card that allows you to get points for the year and other entrants just run as 600 numbers.
We require all entrants to purchase a membership card, or Solo2 card, which will give the ability to enter the events and assign you a number that will go on the car you drive.
All entrants pay the same amount, except we offer an SCCA discount. On a purely financial basis, the amount of the SCCA discount will pay for itself, if you run most of the year. There are only two different fees then. $25 for SCCA. $35 for non-SCCA.
The annual card costs you $30 for the first time. Renewals are $10 if you renew during the renewal grace period.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I got it now. Just a couple more questions:
1. Since I bought a 1-day card at my last event (November), can that be applied toward my annual card? Probably not but doesn't hurt to ask right.
2. How do I find out if my LA number (389) is available in SD?
That's all the questions for tonight. I promise.
Thanks,
David

It is on my list of things to do. :( Been a little too busy lately. Partly because I get a lot of emails from new people asking me questions. :)

Ahahha... reminds me of the engineering manager quote:
"If we test our product early, it'll save us time later." "I don't have time for that!"

Show up Sunday morning and buy your card at registration.
1. Ask when you get there. Maybe. I'm thinking probably not, since our number cards work on a calendar year. You might have been able to get a discount on a 2005 card and then renew it to 2006. If you're an SCCA member (or you join at the registration table) then buying a number card is $20 instead of $30.
2. Ask when you get there. :) They'll have a list of all the numbers that are still available.
