I noticed some cars sport stickers, is it...

a. Support for favored companies.
b. They're awesome drivers and have pre-arranged sponsorships.
c. Like surfing where if a mag publishes a photo of you and their logo, they'll mail you a check.
d. Like motorbiking - to cover scratches.
e. Excessive CO exposure leads to memory loss and it's the best way to keep track of what's on your car.

(I'm not looking for a sponsorship how-to. I'm just curious like a cat - that's why my friends call me Whiskers.)

A lot of stickers are required by the event (e.g. national tour)
Some stickers are there for eligibility for contingency money (e.g. national tour, nationals, etc)
Others are there just to help their buddy's company exposure.
Some are just there.

Most of them aren't "pre-arranged sponsorships" you think of, but some of them are.

Well now I have a use for my box of surplus NASA stickers. I'll walk around the lot on the 24th and stick some hp boost on everyone's cars.
