I'm trying to get a membership so I can gas up at the Cosby Oil in Mission Valley. Is there actually a quick way to get a membership? Some information is on this page, but unfortunately they seem to turn off their phones before I get off work.... http://cosbyoil.com/cfnsignup.html I'm also hoping the fax on that webpage is what I actually need to send to get a gascard that'll allow me to use the gas station here.

Too bad they don't have local offices...this would be so much easier!

I just filled out the form and faxed it in, they sent me a card within a week. Very nice people, please don't irritate them!

If you need some gas before you can turn the card around, drop me a line and I may be able to help. You can always buy 100 octane unleaded at Offroad Warehouse and some other places in 5 gallon drums.

I don't want to threadjack yet again, but which classes allow 100 octane fuel?

I don't want to threadjack yet again, but which classes allow 100 octane fuel?

3.6 FUEL
A. Stock and Street Touring Class vehicles will use service station
pump fuel only. Pump fuel is defined as that which is “Federally
approved for use on public highways.” This does not allow
racing-type fuels which are available at service station pumps.
B. Street Prepared, Street Modified, Prepared, and Modified class
vehicles may use diesel fuel or any grade of gasoline. Gasolines
consist entirely of hydrocarbon compounds. Gasoline may
contain antioxidants, metal deactivators, corrosion inhibitors
and lead alkyl compounds such as tetraethyl lead. Oxygen and/
or nitrogen bearing additives are prohibited, except for those
originally present in service station pump fuel. Oxygen and/or
nitrogen bearing oil additives are prohibited in two-cycle engine
oiling systems.
C. Propane or CNG (compressed natural gas) fuel may be used in
any category provided that the following conditions are met:
1. The tank must be located in a safe location on the car, and be
firmly and securely mounted. This does not permit the cutting
of vehicle sheet metal, e.g. the trunk floor, for tank installation
in Stock, ST, SP, or SM.
2. The tank must conform to Federal and local container
standards, and have an emergency relief/cut-off control.
3. For use of propane or CNG as fuel, no changes to the induction
system of the engine may be made with the exception of
the necessary fuel lines to the carburetor or fuel injection.
There may also be no other engine parts changed.
4. The entire system must meet local ordinances covering the
use and transmission of compressed gas.
5. Propane or CNG may not be used in combination with another
fuel.

I was short on time, and didn't get back on here in time to see the advice about getting 100 octane at Offroad Warehouse, so I got some gas at the place off of the Mollison exit on the I-8 West. It was at a regular gas station, said it was race gas, and allowed on public highways, but it didn't say what octane it was. One thing for sure, is that's it's pungent! Either way, I don't care if I'm dq'd, as long as I can run.

The problem with that Mollison station is that they only pump LEADED gas. One of the pumps said "unleaded" on the side, but the nozzle was the larger leaded size and the attendant said it was leaded (this was over six months ago). If that's an issue for you, I believe they have unleaded in the 5 gal cans inside.

I have all my cat and other smog gear on my car, so I have to find high-octane UNLEADED, which isn't as widely available.

I was at Cosby Oil (now Plavan) off Fairmount just a few months ago, and filled up on Sunoco GT100, which is an unleaded, federally-approved fuel, legal for Stock and Street Touring.

$7/gal.

They won't pump it into plastic containers, so it either needs to go straight into the car, or into a metal container. They sell metal 5-gallon jugs there for a reasonable price if you get them full of gas.
