Summary of meeting, held Monday February 6th, 2006.
Equipment-
FRS radioes are fine for grid, stage, gate, sound, event officials. Not okay for course work due to durability and audio lag. Radio batteries being bought or reconditioned.
Trailer is on schedule. Some tweaks to design. Should be done by late March or early April with possible use for us by end of April. Some discussion about what to do with existing trailer.
Lot-
Meeting was held at Qualcomm to identify areas of west lot to be repaired. City has been in discussion with stadium, SCCA, PCA, BMW, and SDKA.
No new venue development.
Sound-
James Wilson introduced as new marty....er...Sound Chair. Discussion about previous event and meter placement. James has agreed to review placement for events.
Novice-
Ron discussed having a school something this summer. Will review possible dates and see if anything is available this spring.
Past Events-
Discussed SCAT event, course design issues. 96 entrants at Saturday practice. 214 entrants at Sunday's championship (158 SCCA members, 37 non-SCCA). 15 Novice entrants. 19 X Runs. Event finished on time, though clean up was after dusk. Short fun runs due to running out of time on Sunday. Some timing and scoring issues, radio issues.
Upcoming Events-
Feb 19th TART. Note change to flyer for FM and M1. Formula Vees run in their own class.
March 18th and 19th DCCSD.
Old Business-
Course Design Clinic. Matt will revisit this.
Banquet. On task. Just under 90 signed up so far. We have space semi-reserved for 100. A good number of door prizes.
San Diego National Tour. Mark went over responsbilities and times and budget. A lot of stuff that will be in the SD Tour information stuff.
Divisisional. Still on task for July 1-2. Los Angeles is on board. Not sure about Phoenix or Las Vegas. New lot at LV was noted.
Advertising or notifying SD Union-Trib was discussed. Was 214 entrants at SCAT a fluke from having a dry spell, or are entry numbers looking better? It was decided to wait and look for a trend.
Sponsorship opportunities. Robbie reported that in discussion with SCCA region BOD, that sponsorship is fine and can be handled with the region, or with individual clubs. Companies wishing to sponsor should make proposals to the clubs or the region in writing, defining what is expected for what is being given.
Course Design. Tighter and harder to drive courses being less fun for Corvettes (for example). Discussion followed. Course design uniformity. Bad elements. Blargh.
Results. Discussion about computerized results not meeting previous standards as set by rule book. For example, no clubs listed. The idea of a timing and scoring committee was revisited. Clubs are asked to supply some names of people willing to get involved with the timing and scoring program.
Members agreed to okay buying 400 new 18" cones in time for the Tour.
