Getting lots of questions, so I thought I'd address some of the common ones here:

General format:

1) Non mandatory (but encouraged ground schools) on Thursday (intermediate) and Friday (novice) evenings. Almost all of the the talking will occur here.

Novice group will cover basic driving techniques, course reading, and the classic racer's line. If you have any question on which group to enter, pick this one. Practice and reinforcement of the fundamentals is never a waste of time.

The intermediate course will presume that all participants are familiar with autocross and racing terminology. We will cover more advanced techniques such as left foot braking, trail braking, and speed maintenance (or, when not to brake). There will be a portion covering alternative approaches to some of the more challenging course elements. Finally, a bit of time will be spent on tire tuning. This curriculum is still being developed, so there may be changes.

2) Saturday will be devoted to driving. The usual format is as follows: in the morning, there will be 4 separate course elements set up, with all drivers getting 30 minutes on each element. After lunch, we will connect the elements, divide the class into two groups, and each group will get an hour of track time. Then, time permitting, the instructors can jump in their cars and give their students rides. There is an alternative structure I've been kicking around, but I need to talk it over with the brain trust to see if it might be a good idea.

We have a total of 31 entries as of todays mail, against an entry cap of 60. I imagine we'll be full before the end of next week.

In the next couple days we'll be sending emails to confirm we received your entry.

With yesterdays mail, we only have a couple spots left. So, if you haven't already sent your entry, you may wind up on the waiting list. I'll update the list of entries tonight.

I assign the instructors, trying for the best match between type of cars driven, abilities, and personalities (as I may know them). Of course, I am open to requests for particular matches.

In general though, I discourage instructors & students from being a) spouses, or b) close friends. Both cases tend to complicate the student/teacher relationship and make the instruction less effective.

Once all the instructors are in place, I'll post a list.

Speaking of instructors, my contact list is out of date and I've been having a hard time reaching some of you.

So, if you've been autocrossing for five years or more, have a record of success locally or nationally, like to talk (James and Tyson, pay attention here!), and would like to instruct on the 3rd, please PM me and we'll recruit you.

I sent mine in the mail today, but I could actually drop it off in person since Poway is right by me.

As of today, the school filled up.

If you have already mailed your entry and you're not on the above list, we'll put you on a waiting list. We'll let you know you're on it and give you your place on the list.

Entries received postmarked after the 25th will be mailed back.

You are on the list Rod. As a 'share car', I assume with Peter, who is down as a 'share', also in a RSX-S.

Warren!

That quote on your sig--

Emerson didn't really say that. It's been misattributed to him. Emerson didn't write with that style--or quite that cheesiness. :) Good quote, but it's not Emerson.:poke:

I shot some photos (http://flickr.com/photos/kilroyrlc) yesterday.

As usual, let me know if you were borrowing your dad's/brother's/wife's car and don't want them to stumble on an image of it being autocrossed. Plates are all blurred so you can always make the case that it was someone else's magenta Prowler with unique pinstriping.

The beginning of my photostream has a few shots from a February or March event.

Yeah, great shots! I'm happily surprised that you actually caught a shot of my car, the white Civic sedan. So much body roll! :) Thanks! I now have a new desktop wallpaper! Are all the pics you took in that flickr album?

Thanks, just this one:

It's a lot like the other one but without the sweet tarmac art.

You could always tell people you put the wing back on cause the rear was getting unruly and this is you:

Don't be surprised. I have cat-like reflexes (that's why my friends call me Whiskers) so I can catch even the quickest of the ultralights.

I just uploaded the rest of the set. I have a couple more of the Michael Jordan car:

If it helps any, I noticed you only have a lot of body roll when you're turning.

Hahaha. Not exactly what I meant, but that works too. I'm glad you spread out your pics to all sorts of cars and not just the cool sporty cars. :) Though maybe having number 23 helped to add to the dullness of my Civic sedan.... who else is cooler or sportier than Michael Jordan? :) Thanks again for the great pics!!
