Sorry for the short notice, but the management at the stadium just told us that we have been bumped for a larger event being setup inside the stadium.
The Saturday practice is still on, but it is being moved over to the West lot.
If you are registered for the practice and now wish to drop, please contact the SCNAX contact on the flyer.
Very sorry....(this is not an April Fools joke).

Better not be an April Fools LATE joke, or we'll be having a new election.
Is it OK to shoot the messenger??

Rick,
make sure to ask Terry about the course he designed for us. It was quite good.
It's heart breaking that we cannot use it. If TART does not eventually use it (it involves moving K rails) SCNAX will use it next time we get the SE lot.
Sorry Terry!

I only asked the stadium to move 2 particular k-rails....Rick could do that himself with his truck.
Anyway, let's not hijack this thread.

Have we ever been bumped b4? Is that part of getting a "discounted" rental price?
I'm still in for Sat anyway.

What about moving the champ event to Saturday? Not a possibility?
For those that didn't run the Tour nor Pro-Solo, don't run Cal Club events, and aren't planning to attend the driver's school, that's like a thousand years in-between events with this cancellation. :p :p :p

yeah can we run the national course on Sat?

Not going to happen.
Rule 3.1.2 of the Sup Rules;
3.1.2 The sponsoring Member shall provide a copy of the flyer to the web master for posting on the Committee's official web site three weeks prior to the event.
It's Thursday people. Far to late.

I'd be ok either day being the diehard I am....., but really not fair to change at the last minute for peeps that can't make a Saturday.
I guess we need to anticipate that this will happen again & have a plan B from now on. Is El Toro avail Sunday?

I think that you think SDR is a bit more organized than they really are.
Imaginary Phone Call:
Warren: "Hey, [insert names of mysterious Board members], the Stadium bumped us from Sunday, but Saturday is still good. Fliers are up for the weekend already, we'd just cancel our practice and move the Champ to Saturday. Can I get you to okay that?"
Board: "Sure, sounds like a good idea, everything is already in place, why not? It would be a good showing that SCNAX is making decisions for the Region as a whole and not just to get $$$ from a Practice."
Warren: "EXACTLY. I'm glad you think so too. SCNAX is always happy to help, and thanks for the OK on such short notice."
Board: "What are you wearing right now?"
Warren: Click.
:shift:
Yes, it should be that easy. But I used to have a job that required me to work Saturdays. It was a nightmare to get those few Championship Saturdays off to compete. I bet these are a few out there who’d be negatively affected with a late change.
My take on this is to keep it a practice. Then I’ll meet all of you next weekend at CSCC’s event.

[QUOTE I bet these are a few out there who’d be negatively affected with a late change. QUOTE]
There are several of us diehards doing something else this Saturday, so to suddenly move the championship would mean we all have to miss it. Keep it a practice. C'est la vie.

It should look like this, with square brackets instead of curly braces:
{QUOTE}Quoted Text goes here{/QUOTE}
You're missing the close after the first QUOTE and the open/forward-slash before the second QUOTE.

Not in my 5 yrs of SDR. I hope the board will address this & I think we need plan B if it's going to happen again/ever. Chances are it could, right?

Uh, I'm too old to remember if it happened before... but it has.
One cancellation every 15-20 years isn't a bad record. I’m still angry though.
My first autocross? It was in April 1974 in the H.P. parking lot in Rancho Bernardo. :rock2:

:scared011: "Plan B" would seem to be a good idea. Except there are no other practical options. We are at the mercy of Qualcomm's management.

Scnax, so sorry to hear about your two day event being changed now to a one day event !!! Yes this exact thing happened over 10 yrs ago and since the SOLO ( which was the SOLO 2 Committee) never checked into having the Qualcomm provide any of Solo with a "Written Contract" OFF"the Solo and each club are at the mercy of City of San Diego and the "NEW" management staff in Qualcomm. We proabably should be "Thankful" for Qualcomm allowing us to "RENT their lots. Be ready for possoble "Rent" increases, bounced dates and more broken up parking lot surfaces !!!
Just take a hard look around everywhere !!! We are in a recession !!! Everything is taking a"Big Hit" businesses big and small are closing up, people are being laid off from their workplaces, people have to foreclose on their homes because they lost their jobs or can't contiune to pay their mortage payments etc... All those who want to continue participating in having any kind of AutoCross in San Diego and all of California you need to be more Pro-Active and speak up with sincere support and backing to the clubs that put on these events in order for you to drive !!:poke: We need more drivers to join in our support, join a Autocross club, become active in that club , do more that just pay your $25.00s!!!:poke: By being a part of I mean actually working in the background learning how an event is developed and prepared and held. Driving and working then going home does not give you the priveldge to complain !!! Should be asking yourselves "what can I do to help keep Autocross going at Qualcomm and in San Diego ??" If we loose it here it for good it will just inpact the upper California and soon all of the state will chose to close track areas and parking lots to Autocrossing.
Do Not level the BLAME on anyone of the clubs here in San Diego that trys putting on a one day or even a two day event the suddently be notified their event that they have spent weeks and hours preparing for to be suddently dropped at the last minute !!! The Autocross world is low man on the list that receives dates to run, if the new management finds another event that will pay more, of course they will cancel and reschedule for the $$$. Hint Hint !!! The new Qualcomm management is after the $$$ getting the most $$$ for the space !!! The management of Qualcomm needs to be "EDUCATED" and held accountable only when there is something in print that states how, when, where and cost !! At this point Solo has no written 2008 Contract so anything goes and that means dates !!!
Keep up the good work SCNAX Your turn will come around again!!!

IMHO these are one in the same. Most here are not only club members of one of the various clubs but the very same people that are contributing to the club efforts when they are event hosts.

Off base???? Honestly cannot detect and ounce of blame being pointed anywhere. I believe folks are just expressing their extreme disappointment that they don't get to drive on Sunday. Not to mention SCNAX is known for having awesome courses  so it's a double bummer!

I don't remember any cancellations. Well, maybe because I took a 30-year break shortly after your 1974 slalom ("Autocross"? What the heck was that?) I think that HP-sited event was historical in another way, as well: I was given a warning ticket by the organizers. My Showroom Stock S2 Elan was too loud. "Sound level?" What the heck was that?
Having a decent place to schedule events is a real privilege. It wasn't that long ago that a tiny lot like the one at Mt. Miguel High School was gratefully utilized. Hypnot's wisdom, or at least his falling sky, was prevalent then, too. There was then, and doubtless is now, enough focused intelligence and ability among the participants to hold it up. No worries, just solutions. Amend the Code, mug the Stadium contract-writers, something.

Love that quote.
Speaking of quotes, I "wonder" if there "should" be some "way" of "automatically" limiting the seemingly "random" use of punctuation in "posts!" !!!

A Stock S2 Elan? Cool.
And yes, let's focus on the positive, other than we are all positively screwed.:scared011: There is a new regime at Qualcomm and some of this may be financially motivated (which is not inherently wrong, we are just "noise level" to the powers that be.. no pun intended), but there seems also an element of incompetence being demonstrated. But there is not enough care to rise about that, and we as a group do not have enough leverage.
Qualcomm Stadium. On it's last legs. Not going to put more money into it. Loses MILLIONS of dollars. Cost to keep it open is something like 15 million per year. Autocrossing pays $1500 a day, probably less than $100k for the year (or much less than one football game)...which only covers 0.006 of their costs.
We will eventually be in some other lot. It will probably be less convenient and smaller. That is what it is.

I don't get it. Is there some arcane intrinsicism in the "popcorn" symbol?
RandyC

Yes.
Eating popcorn indicates one is watching some sort of drama unfold, a movie reference. So the poster who uses only a popcorn smilie is saying he expects some interesting posts, back and forth, flaming, or drama to have occurred to to occur.
It is a subtle way of sometimes saying a post will start some interesting reactions, or the post was simply a trainwreck.

I think we all, the board, me, interested parties, need to get that next sucky lot lined up & the sooner the better. Every time anyone has posted about trying to connect with a military type location it's always been "Don't even think about it, let the "organization" make the overtures.
So how's that going?
