Is there any chance of my car blowing up (figure of speech) on me during an autocross? I know this sounds kinda weird, but I have higher authorities that overlook me and my/their car.

Is your question: Is it dangerous to run your engine near red line for extended periods of time?

Short answer... no. If your car is properly maintained and in good working order, you have little to no chance of hurting your car.

With that said, if there is a pre-existing problem, you'll find it quickly.

Save your allowance up for a miata and you won't have to worry about driving your parents car anymore.

Is it the familly station wagon?

The car will be fine.

shish,

just come out and see for yourself. You only drive as fast as YOU want to.

You will see.

Just from looking at it I think it could handle it. I do agree with the saving up for a miata idea, though.

What sort of work are you looking for? If you don't mind me asking, is it a high school, college, or post-college job?

The engine will be fine on that car.

The tires are another matter.....

It couldn't be bad as my car was originally. They look like they have shorter tread-walls than the stock '04 WRX tires (205-16-55, if I remembered the order correctly).

I'm pretty much looking for any kind of work, well its gonna be hard but I'm trying to get not the typical college student job. If not i'm gonna get that typical college job lol. As for the tires, Nalbar, I'm buying my friends stock 15's then i'm gonna be on the look out for some used tires.

I would think twice about autocrossing with that car. Judging by the photo, it looks like it is already about halfway-rolled. If you take a left-hander too fast, you'll probably go over the extra 45 degrees and she'll be on her roof.

Try to find a car that is level, and use that. ;)

Take a look at the photo you posted - my post is a joke re/the angle of your photograph. ;) That car is just fine for autoX.

If the Fiero at novice school didn't kerplode, your Hyabusa quadraped is a safe bet.

No offense to the Fiero, MR rules.
