I know that auto X only requires a DOt rating street bike helmet but i was wondering if an SA rated helmet would work say at streets of willow, button willow, and CA speedway? I m looking at buying a new helmet and I want to have the option of being able to attend such events at those tracks.
Hey,
I am pretty certain the SA Snell rating will qualify for helmet inspection at any of those tracks. However, it really depends on the group that is hosting the event. I've heard stories of hosting groups allowing M rated helmets at a track day and do-it-yourself tech inspections  !! Anyways, where you've been dude? Haven't seen you around.

DOT is not good enough for AutoX, has to be M rating or better.
SA is the 'road racer' rating. Should be good for any track. Pay attention to the year too, tracks usually want a newer rating than autoX accepts.

SA 2005 is the latest rating.
Snell rated is the minimum for Solo racing and allows Snell 95 and later helmets, so 95, 2000, 2005; SCCA Club Racing requires Snell 2000 and later helmets, so 2000 and 2005. SA helmets have a nomex lining, smaller eyeport and different impact testing than M-rated helmets.
