Received a call from a track owner in Florida today who is putting on a 2 day rally event in Holtville, CA (Imperial County) April 26-27 2008. Sat. will be road rally, Sun. rally cross.
I will post an event flyer as soon as he gets me one.

RallyX huh? I figure it's not SCCA since I haven't heard about it. Is there any web site info?

I've picked up a little more.
Firstly, it's intended to be a tarmac rally, not a road rally (BIG differance). Also the promoter to put on the RallyX is 'known for' running high average and solid obsticals, even though it may be called a RallyX, it'd be more like a mini stage.

Words too big Mike :-)
Tarmac Rally: Everyone's seen the 'Stage rally', where AWD are going sideways down country roads. Sometimes those stages included some pavement and some stages are entirely pavement, which is a Tarmac Rally. It's basically a road course of some sort, but done with 'off road' cars, The tire rules force you into rubber you wouldn't want to use on any track.
'High average' is reverance to the speed. My guess is it would be equivilnt to a 60mph AVERAGE solo, so more comparable to a time trial (formerly solo1).
'Solid obsticals' is reverance to nearby obstructions. Say instead of using a series of pylons to define the outside of a sweaper, we use a K-rail.

Thanks Jay. Now I can digest these new terms much easier.:)

As I stated in the first post, as I get more info I will pass it on.
Jay, Not sure you are on the right track as I know for sure that the road rally day (sat) requires a navagator

So does tarmac rally. Road rally is following a list of instructions on direction and speed (often <speedlimit, rarely exceeding) that can even be ran on open public roads. The goal is to cross check points at an exact time (as oppose to the fastest time).

So here is an e-mail I got today. First thing of note is the date is differant than I was originally told. Most of this is "greek" to me. Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel. A website for his place in FL is www.gorally.com
