Being as Warren puts it, a flat out noob, I need some advice on tires.

My ride is an 03 Focus SVT - daily driver and event car and pretty much stock. I need to get a new set of tires pretty soon and I am considering any of the following:

1. Falken RT-615
2. Nitto Neo Gen
3. Bridgestone Parada
4. Any other tire in the same price range that is a compromise of reasonable wear index and grip (is that too much to ask for?)
5. Hankook RS2 Z212
6. Kumho MX

Any suggestions, comments, reactions?

What class are you running?

I'm a fan of the Hankook RS2 Z212's.

Being a novice do I run in SU for now?

My car has stock suspension, cat back exhaust, cone air filter inside the stock air box and strut bars front and rear. What class will that fall in?

Run DSP with Reza,

not because of your mods, but because he can help you when you run.

Alex I would run x runs for now. that way you can run whenever you want.

Its already too late to get points for the end of the year. so just run x runs for now the at the begining of the year you can run in SK2 if you remove the bars and if you don't want to remove the bars you would be in STS.

as far as tires goes just get the Falken 615's. they cheap and very very good tires.

Alex, if you are what is considered a noob, and it sounds as though you want a good tire for it's wear resistance, then try the Falken ZIEX. I was impressed with them on Sunday and they will teach you more than the Azenis will.

Chris SVT focus is totally different from miata. those tires would chunck if you autox on them.

Just the rear one needs to be OEM. The front is allowed.

I've had good experience with Falkens - got 80+K on the Ziex on my ES300 and I liked the Azenis Sport on my old Miata (sadly its gone). My Yokohama ES100 is ok for the street but I felt I had too much understeer with it (but then maybe its just me - what do you think Warren?)

Any word about Neo Gen? GRM seems to like it.

As for my class I am not going to worry about it for now as I just need as much seat time as my schedule will allow.

Reza what tire pressure/s are you running?

Don't forget about the Kumho MX.
